Artist BioThe Barbed Wire Gallery is in Raetihi in the Central Plateau area of New Zealand, not far from Mt Ruapehu. The Gallery features work by local photographer Leonie Cadman APSNZ who has an eye to capture the local enviroment and diverse paintings and mixed media works by local artists also feature strongly. The Gallery has regular exhibitions, sells original art works, photographs, unique craft, sculptures, upcycled furniture, local interest books and giftware.

THE BARBED WIRE GALLERY HAS NOW BEEN OPEN SINCE NOVEMBER 2009. OWNED AND MANAGED BY PHOTOGRAPHER LEONIE CADMAN, IT ALSO PROVIDES AN OUTLET FOR OTHER LOCAL ARTISTS. ALL HIGH QUALITY WORKS ARE CAREFULLY SELECTED FOR AN ECLECTIC APPEAL.
Exhibitions are changed monthly and new artworks arrrive regularly. A strong theme that has evolved throughout the gallery is the innovative use of recycled materials. This can be seen through various mediums Including Mike Ryan from Ohakunes’ rebuilt furniture, Lois Whites Neck Tie bags, Leon Ryans sculptures and paintings, George Potakas Feather Art and Barbara Furleys creative fabric upcycling. The Barbed Wire Gallery is in historic Raetihis old bakery and tea rooms. The floors have been lovingly restored to their former glory.
The managers flat at the rear has been renovated and now is cosy accomodation for up to five people.
